In a world where AI capabilities are evolving at a rapid pace, understanding the potential impact on jobs and careers has never been more important.

enter Jobs GPTa new AI-powered tool designed to assess how large language models (LLMs) could reshape the future of work.

Developed by Paul Rutzer, founder and CEO of Marketing AI Institute And Smart Xan AI research and consulting firm, JobsGPT gives any marketing or business professional the ability to see how exposed their work is to AI change and disruption.

Rutzer broke down everything you need to know for me. Episode 110 of Artificial Intelligence Show.

What is JobsGPT?

JobsGPT breaks down your work into sets of tasks, analyzes the impact of AI on each task, and provides actionable insights to prioritize AI use cases and maximize your productivity. Leverages the latest AI capabilities.

You can give JobsGPT just the job title you want to estimate, or give it a full job description with your actual tasks and responsibilities.

But here's the kicker: it doesn't just look at what AI can do today. It projects into the future, considering possible advances in AI capabilities.

“We cannot plan our business or our careers or our next steps as a government based on today's capabilities,” Reutzer emphasizes. “That's the number one mistake I see from businesses and economists. They're making plans based on today's capabilities.”

How it works

JobsGPT is easy to use:

  1. Enter your job title or paste your job description.
  2. The tool divides your role into specific tasks.
  3. It then evaluates each task based on different “exposure levels” to AI capabilities.
  4. You receive a chart showing the potential time savings and rationalization for each task.

Levels of exposure: A new way to think about AI impact

JobsGPT uses a unique system of “exposure levels” to assess the potential impact of AI.

Exposure means the ability for an LLM to reduce the time it takes to complete tasks with a quality equal to or greater than that of an average skilled professional.

  • E0 – No exposure: LLM cannot reduce time for this work. Usually requires high human interaction.
  • E1 – Direct exposure: Direct access to the LLM reduces the time required.
  • E2 – Exposure through LLM-powered applications: Additional software built on top of LLM, such as software that has access to CRM data and is able to write real-time summaries about customers and prospects.
  • E3 – Exposed Image Skills: LLM + Ability to view, understand, title, create and edit images.
  • E4 – Exposure Given Video Skills: LLM + Ability to watch, understand, caption, create and edit videos.
  • E5 – Exposure Given Audio Skills: LLM + Ability to listen, understand, transcribe, translate, output audio and have a natural conversation through devices like phone and computer.
  • E6 – Exhibits advanced reasoning abilities: LLM+ Handles complex questions, solves multi-step problems, makes more accurate predictions, understands meaning in deeper contexts, completes higher-level cognitive tasks , ability to draw conclusions and make decisions.
  • E7 – Exhibited Persuasive Skills: LLM + Ability to persuade someone to change their beliefs, attitudes, intentions, motivations, or behaviors.
  • E8 – Demonstration of Digital World Action Capabilities (AI Agents): LLM + AI agents with the ability to interact with, manipulate and perform tasks in the digital environment just like a human on a computer with a user interface such as a keyboard and mouse. uses , or touch or voice on a smartphone.
  • E9 – AI Vision Devices: LLM + A physical device, such as a phone or glasses, that enables the system to see, understand, analyze and respond to the physical world.
  • E10 – Demonstration of Physical World Action Capabilities (Humanoid Robots): LLM embodies a general-purpose, bipedal autonomous humanoid robot that enables the system to see, understand, analyze, respond to, and act in the physical world. .

Reutzer conceptualized exposure levels as a variation on those used in a. OpenAI's seminal paper on how AI can impact jobs.. Researchers have also used O*NET Professional Database A dataset Roetzer also leveraged in JobsGPT—to look at the impact of AI on specific jobs.

“I can just put in 'marketing manager' and it will generate tasks based on its training data on what marketing managers do, and then it will evaluate it based on the exposure level of those tasks.” And how much time can be saved using this language model with different capabilities,” says Rutzer.

“It's looking at your task, breaking it down into a series of tasks, and then projecting the effects to those models as the models get smarter and more generalizable.
