Strange but true
Menace has a new face after a Jack the Ripper expert used research material to achieve the first AI rendering of the infamous 19th-century serial killer.
Move over, Ted Bundy — there’s a new old serial hottie in town.
Recently released AI-generated renderings of Jack the Ripper reveal the notorious 19th-century prostitute killer to be a bold gentleman with dark charm, wild-eyed energy.
The menacingly dreamy drawings are courtesy of long-time Ripper enthusiast Jeff Leahy from Carmarthen, Wales, who created a mini-series on the killer and spent decades following one of history’s most infamous villains. Have you studied the stories around?
Using Midjourney software with available photos and information from relatives of prime suspect Aaron Kosminski, Leahy was able to create a striking portrait of the man.
“It’s amazing to finally be photographed. I was surprised at how amazing the photo is,” Leahy told SWNS.
Kosminski was a Polish-born barber who worked in Whitechapel, London’s East End, where the murders took place in the late 1800s.
Kosminski has been labeled a rapper by several experts, but no one has been able to prove his guilt.
“There’s never been a picture of it and this is the best picture we’re going to get,” Leahy said.
“It’s exciting to finally bring the world’s most notorious serial killer to light. I had two pictures of his sister Matilda, one of her uncle and one of a close relative. I also had a brother-in-law, and the families. were closely related – cousins marrying for generations – so it’s still useful,” he said.
The new portrait bears little resemblance to the only known facial composite found in 2022 in the archives of a UK police facility.
The grandfather of three first found himself in the grip of Rippermania at the age of ten, when a relative took him on a tour of historic slasher sites.
Jack the Ripper terrorized London in 1888 after slitting the throats and mutilating the bodies of a series of sex workers in a poor part of the capital.
The world famous nickname originated from a letter someone wrote claiming responsibility for the murder. Many people have been suspected – even royalty, artists and writers.
Over the years, Kosminski has emerged as a favorite suspect.
Kosminsky was admitted to a mental institution in the early 1890s, shortly after the rise of the killer.
He died in 1919 at the age of 53.
