Artificial intelligence models can now build small AI systems without human help, according to research published Friday by a group of scientists, who said the project was the first of its kind.

Essentially, large AI models — such as the power of ChatGPT — can create smaller, more specific AI applications that can be used in everyday life, Aizip Inc. And collaborations were demonstrated between scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and several campuses at the University of California. . Those specialized models can help improve hearing aids, monitor oil pipelines and track endangered species.

“Right now, we’re using big models to build smaller models, like a big brother helping out [its smaller] Yan Sun, CEO of AI tech company Azep for Brother Improvement, told Fox News that this is the first step toward a larger task of self-developing AI. “This is the first step on the road to showing that AI models can create AI models.”

Yubi Chen, one of the researchers, echoed the sun.

One device Sun and Chen demonstrated — a human activity tracker that uses AI to collect and analyze movement data — was housed in a chip smaller than a dime.

“Right now, we’re using big models to build smaller models, like a big brother helping out [its smaller] Brother to do better,” said one researcher. Getty Images

That sensor is an example of miniature machine learning, miniature AI systems that can be used in compact devices or spaces. Small machine learning capabilities are critical to pervasive AI, the notion that almost anything can become intelligent, Sun said.

“If we think about ChatGPT and small machine learning, they’re at the two extremes of the intelligence spectrum. The big models … live in the cloud,” Chen told Fox News. “On the other hand, we have the smallest models. are making They live in things.”

According to the study, home appliances such as coffee machines, ovens, dishwashers, TVs and more may incorporate artificial intelligence in the future.
