Apple released an updated version of Logic Pro today, introducing all the new features that were previewed last week. New versions of both Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro were announced last Tuesday alongside new iPad Pro models, and the updates are available for Mac and iPad.

Logic Pro features new AI-based studio assistants to help artists create music, with options added to the Smart Tempo and Pitch Correction plugins. Session Players expands the drummer's capabilities in Logic Pro, with Apple adding a new bass player and keyboard player. Session players are able to follow the progression of a single chord using a global chord track.

With a new ChromaGlow feature, users can dial in the perfect tone and choose from five different saturation styles to add warmth, presence and punch to tracks, mimicking the sound of vintage analog hardware.

Audio files can be split into stems for vocals, drums, bass and other parts using the Stem Splitter feature. The purpose of splitting a track is to make it easier to apply effects, add new parts, and change the mix. There are also updates to the Sound Library, native audio and other features, with Apple's full notes available below.

AI-enhanced tools
– New AI-enhanced tools include Smart Tempo and Pitch Correction plugins to enhance your artistry.
– A bass player and keyboard player join the drummer to complete a set of session players — all made with AI making it easy to create performances that respond to your direction.
– Session players can follow the progression of a single chord using the global chord track.
– Add warmth to any track with ChromaGlow, an innovative plug-in with five saturation models designed to mimic the sound of vintage analog hardware. Requires M1 chip or later.
– Split a stereo audio file into stems for vocals, drums, bass and other parts with Stem Splitter. Requires M1 chip or later.
– Session Players, Chroma Glow, and Steam Splitter also come to Logic Pro for iPad 2 — making it easy to move between projects created in Logic Pro for Mac.

Sound Library
– Play any of six acoustic and electric basses with deep patterns along with Studio Bass.
– Perform any of three carefully sampled pianos with Studio Piano.
– Loops that contain rag tags automatically populate the rag track when added to a project.
– Three new producer packs are available: Hardwell, The Count, and Cory Wong
– “Swing!” The original multi-track project by Ellie Dixon is available as a demo song in the app.

Local audio
– Downmix and trim options allow custom mixing for non-Atmos channel configurations.
– Exported ADM BWF files are extended beyond Dolby Atmos and can include settings for stereo and other multi-channel formats.

increase
– Bounce in place adds automatic real-time recording for external instrument regions or tracks that use external hardware using Logic's I/O plug-ins.
– MIDI generated by supported software instruments and effects can be routed to the inputs of other tracks for creative layering during playback or recording.
– Edit marquee selection more efficiently using key commands to move, expand, or resize

These features are available for Logic Pro on Mac, including Session Players, ChromaGlow, Stem Splitter, and new Sound Library options on Logic Pro 2 for iPad.

The latest version of Logic Pro is free for existing users, and $200 for new users.
