Alia Bhatt praised her acting skills in Gangubai Kathiyawari. However, art is always different from the perspective of the audience. As the new norm of entertainment mixing artificial intelligence takes off, Reddit users reacted to Kareena Kapoor’s transformation as Gangubai Kathiyawadi. An Instagram handle called Bolivart AI shared a video in which Kareena poses in iconic scenes from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s biographical drama. Netizens are divided over Kareena Kapoor’s Gangubai transformation.

While reimagining actors as popular movie characters is nothing new, Reddit users had a different take on it. While some fans are still rooting for Alia, others agreed that Kareena is perfect to portray Gangubai. A section of netizens even suggested an AI version of Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra. A fan commented, “Aff reminds me of Bebo in Jasmine. She was so easy in that.” Another netizen opined, “Unpopular opinion but Alia Bhatt was very wrongly cast in this film.” .” A user also captioned his comment, “This makes me wonder why SLB didn’t choose Kareena. Alia could have played a small role and Kareena could have played a big role. Alia was great, no doubt about it. But I think Kareena could have been more influential. While a cinephile supported Alia and pointed out, “Since when did Bebo become such an ‘actress’ that she can play this role (skeleton face emoji).”

About Gangubai, Alia and Kareena

Alia played the lead role in Gangubai Kathiawadi based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S Hussain Zaidi. The film was screened at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2022. Alia also won her first National Award for this film. Alia will next be seen in Mukhi in her home production Jagra, co-starring Vedant Raina.
