Ethereum NFT card fighting game only parallel Launched its open beta. late last month, but Parallels Studios is already charging toward — and building on — its next crypto game. Solana Instead

Colony, which was previously teased by the studio, has now been extensively detailed in a White paper Released late Thursday, offers a deep dive into a game that will build on the foundations of a parallel universe with vastly different gameplay — and a new chain as well.

Described as a “survival simulation” game, Colony is powered by generative AI and is played by autonomous “agents” that you can’t directly control. You’ll start by answering a handful of questions to define your agents’ basic personality, but this will develop over time.

Your AI-powered agent will have a mind of its own. You can make suggestions to your agent, but they may not always follow through.

“For example, a user can suggest to their avatar: ‘Maybe you should plant an apple tree for food in the future?'” the white paper reads. “Avatars will respond to suggestions, in some cases interpreting them in light of other goals they may have—even possibly rejecting their master’s suggestion if they believe the role is deviant from or inconsistent with any other objective which they are pursuing.”

“In such cases, an owner may find himself arguing with or mocking his avatar to get the job done,” it continues. “Ultimately the avatar will settle on its own goals—sometimes even ignoring its master’s suggestions—and without directly controlling its master’s every action, it will do what it deems most beneficial. It has started moving forward.”

The colony will initially be built around the existing parallel avatar. NFTsOf which 11,001 are on Ethereum. The white paper suggests that PRIME token holders may vote on a governance proposal to increase this number to further increase Solana.

This is because the game will feature a “breeding” mechanism that will spawn more agents over time, similar to Axi Infinity and its colorful monster races. The PRIME token from Ethereum will be used in-game as a wrapped token that will be fed to Solana and will also be awarded to players as in-game crypto rewards.

However, you must own an NFT avatar to receive crypto rewards. A “free-to-play” version will also be available, but those users will not be able to earn PRIME rewards, capture items, mint items as unique NFTs, or transfer items outside of the game. In any case, even “free” players must pay to cover the costs of the large language model (LLM) that powers the AI.

“Consumers must still provide funding to cover the fees associated with their agent’s use of core LLMs during game sessions,” the white paper reads. “It’s structured like a full, reward-eligible version of Colony, where players are funding their avatar’s LLM calls with funds that the owner has deposited into the avatar’s wallet.”

The Parallels team expects to launch a public alpha version of Colony in Q4 2024 or Q1 2025. The white paper provides quite a bit more detail, but we’re sure to see and hear more about the game in the coming months—especially with the recent addition of Parallels.

Colony’s announcement appears to have boosted PRIME’s price in the process, with the token up 22% over the past 24 hours to above the current price of $21. It rose even higher early Friday, setting a new all-time high of $23.39 per data. Coin Gecko.
