SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Senate unanimously approved legislation introduced by Attorney General Kwame Raoul that clarifies Illinois child pornography laws and artificial intelligence (AI).

Initiated by Attorney General Kwame Raoul and sponsored by Senator Mary Edly-Allen, House Bill (HB) 4623 clarifies Illinois child pornography laws to apply to AI-generated images and videos of real children or Depicts obscene images. Additionally, the bill prohibits the non-consensual circulation of certain sexual images created using AI.

Raoul's office runs the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which investigates online reports (cybertips) of child pornography from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
